　　值此2011新年到来之际，我谨代表外交部全体同事，向关心和支持中国外交的海内外朋友表示衷心感谢，向大家致以诚挚的新年问候。
　　As we are about to ring in the year 2011, let me express, on behalf of all the colleagues of the Foreign Ministry, heartfelt thanks to you, friends from home and abroad, for your care and support for Chinas diplomacy and extend to you sincere festive greetings.
　　2010年是我国“保稳定、促发展、调结构”的关键之年，也是我国进一步深化与世界各国的互利合作，为世界和平稳定与发展做出新贡献的一年。新形势下，我国与主要大国、周边和发展中国家关系健康发展，深入参与和引导世界经济治理机制变革，以上海世博会、广州亚运会和亚残运会等为契机，积极开展首脑外交、经济外交、公共外交，展示了我国文明、民主、开放、进步的形象，全方位促进了与各国的友好合作。外交为维护国家主权、安全和发展利益发挥着日益重要的作用。
　　The year 2010 has been crucial to Chinas efforts to "maintain stability, promote development and readjust structure". It has also been a year in which we have deepened mutually beneficial cooperation with other countries and made new contribution to world peace, stability and development. We have enjoyed sound growth of relations with major countries, neighboring countries and other developing countries under the new circumstances. We have been deeply engaged in the reform of the world economic governance system and offered our guidance. We have seized the opportunities provided by the Shanghai World Expo, the Guangzhou Asian Games and Para Games to carry out summit diplomacy, economic diplomacy and public diplomacy. And by doing so, we have shown to the world a China that is culturally advanced, democratic, open and progressive, and enhanced our friendship and cooperation with other countries in all respects. Diplomacy has played an increasingly important role in safeguarding Chinas sovereignty, security and development interests.
　　2011年是新世纪第二个十年的开启之年，也是“十二五”规划的开局之年。我们将认真学习贯彻党的十七届五中全会精神，为“十二五”规划开好局、起好步营造良好的外部环境。我们将始终不渝走和平发展道路，始终不渝奉行互利共赢的开放战略，坚持和平发展、科学发展、合作发展、共赢发展，与国际社会一道，为促进世界和平、稳定与繁荣作出新的贡献。
　　The year 2011 marks the beginning of the second decade of the 21st century. It is also the first year for implementing Chinas 12th Five-Year Plan. We will earnestly study and act on the spirit of the fifth plenary session of the 17th CPC Central Committee and create a sound external environment for a good start of the 12th Five-Year Plan. We will stay committed to the path of peaceful development and the win-win strategy of opening-up, pursue peaceful, scientific, cooperative and win-win development, and work with the international community to make new contribution to world peace, stability and prosperity.
