考点拾遗之七　　定冠词

　　1.要点提示

　　定冠词the是一个起确定作用的冠词，含义与this，that，these，those相近，但是没有以上这些词的语气那么强烈，而且也没有单复数或远近之分。各种普通名词，无论单数复数，可数还是不可数都可以和the连用。

　　2.用法指南

　　1.使用the时，有两个基本情况需要记住：

　　（1）the通常特指（即：说话人或读者已知的人或物）。

　　（2）the可以与单数、复数可数名词连用，也可以和不可数名词连用。

　　2.the作分类用

　　（1）the 国籍形容词，我们把它当作一个整体来看待。

　　the British= the British people in general英国人＝英国人民（总称）

　　（2）the 复数名字，我们把它看作是整体的一群人。

　　The White brothers have opened a company in New York.

　　怀特兄弟在纽约开了一家公司。

　　（3）在一些特殊的人群前加上the来强调其身份，如：the Beatles披头士乐队。

　　3.the用作特指

　　我们用the时，听者或读者已经能够分清我们指的是什么，因此，the表示它后面的名词已被上下文或语法关系所特指。

　　（1）the特指已经提过的东西或者是正在谈论的人或者事物。

　　（2）the用在north（北），east（东），left（左）等表示方位的词，以及next（下一个），last（上一个）等表示次序的词前。

　　（3）the特指人们都已经熟知的独一无二的事物或者自然现象。

　　4.the用在表示时间的词组中

　　（1）the在时间顺序中

　　the beginning， the middle， the end， the present， the past， the future， the following day the day before yesterday.

　　（2）the与一天中各段时间连用

　　in the morning， in the afternoon， in the evening

　　（3）the与季节的词连用

　　（the）spring/summer/autumn/winter中，the可要可不要

　　（4）the与日期的词连用

　　在谈话中当讲到表示日期的序数词时要用the，但写的时候却不用。

　　My birthday is on August 10th.读作August the 10th

　　（5）the用在表示时间的固定词组

　　at the moment， for the first time， in the end， for the time being

　　5.the的其它用法

　　（1）与最高级连用

　　It’s the best play I’ve ever seen.

　　这是我见过的最好的话剧。

　　（2）与乐器连用

　　Tom can play the piano well.

　　汤姆钢琴弹得很好。

　　（3）固定短语

　　do the shopping买东西

　　at the age of在……岁时

　　make the beds铺床

　　all over the country（world）全国/全世界

　　by the way顺便

　　at the end of…在……的尽头

　　on the way home在回家的路上

　　in the end最后

　　in the front of在前部

　　on the phone用电话

　　on the other hand一方面……另一方面

　　in the middle在……中间

　　on the radio通过无线电

　　at the moment此刻
